Timothy's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 17, 2022

Hello,

My name is Timmy O'Connor and I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Between January 22nd and March 12th I will be working to raise as much as possible in just 7 short weeks, hopefully reaching my personal goal of $5,000. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. I am proud to be a Junior this year at Georgetown Prep and though I have a lot going on with school and soccer, LLS has now taken priority.
Cancer has affected everyone in some way, which is why I have chosen to stand up through this campaign. My personal reasons for supporting this worthy cause are my grandmas. I lost my Mumsie when I was in seventh grade to cancer and I want to help anyone I can to avoid the same. That is why when my Dad's mother, Nanny (pictured below), was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer, I was truly disheartened. I want to do anything I can to put an end to cancer and help with Nanny's battle. LLS seemed like the perfect place to start. As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers! Every donation, regardless of amount, can have life-changing affects for cancer patients.

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate! Feel free to check out any of my fellow Red Elephant's pages for more information.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org

Thank you Timmy for committing to this important work. I donate in honor of my cousin Elizabeth Brokaw who gave a bone marrow transplant to help her brother survive Leukemia. He is in remission and has been doing quite well for many years. His sister Elizabeth returned to God 12 years go due to her own battle with pancreatic cancer. Holding everyone we have lost in prayer and those who continue to fight this battle daily.

Thanks Timmy for doing this. This is a wonderful society and a great cause! This society granted one of my own patients an $11,000 grant to help him pay for the treatments for multiple myeloma. He is so grateful.
