Sophia's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Hi there! Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page! My name is Sophia Rees and I’m a junior at the National Cathedral School. You may know me as a family member, a friend, or perhaps through my parents (I am the daughter of Nina and Matthew Rees). Either way, I am beyond excited to announce that I will be participating in the 2022 Students of the Year campaign to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, as a candidate for Team Close Cares. The Students of the Year campaign is a seven-week initiative in which high school students from around the country are nominated to participate in a fundraising competition to benefit LLS’s mission: to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
I truly hope you consider donating to my campaign! And remember, every dollar counts!

I lost my Dad to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2009. He fought a hard fight for 3 years. He was and always will be my HERO! I donate every year in his memory to this foundation. I pray there will soon be a cure to save others from the pain and heartache of this terrible diagnosis.

Happy to support your worthy cause, Sophia. I have CoVid as of last Saturday so I am self-isolating except for taking Eddie out. It’s a 10-day isolation, but I am not sick and don’t feel bad at all, just have to ask others to go to the store for me. (Luckily, I have lots of chocolate and coffee ice cream!
