Selma Elrefai | Team Rally 2 Raise 4 a Cure

Selma's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 22, 2022

I have had the privilege of working on a student campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much money as possible for this noble cause over the next 7 weeks. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org

Honored Hero: Alex Eissenstat

Jan 21, 2022

Our DC Campaign Honored Hero is Alex Eissenstat

Alex is an active fourteen-year-old boy who lives with his parents and brother in Alexandria, Virginia. He attended George Washington Middle School, Alexandria Country Day School and will attend Mercersburg Academy this Fall as a freshman.

Alex is an Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) survivor who is busy making up for the time he lost to his 2 and a half year aggressive blood cancer treatments. Alex’s treatment included countless pills, high dose steroids, weekly and monthly infusions and quarterly spinal taps – after his treatment in third grade, it took almost three more years for Alex’s body, mind and spirit to begin to fully recover from the effects of chemotherapy. Now that Alex is 5 years off of treatment, he is finally able to do all the things he used to only dream of doing. He especially enjoys rock climbing, bike riding and watching the Washington Nationals. In his spare time, he advocates for increased funding for pediatric cancer research and the rights of people with disabilities! We dedicate our campaign to Alex and his continued fight with LLS in their ongoing battle against blood cancers.
