I am currently a Junior at Yorktown Highschool, where I play lacrosse and actively participate in many other clubs/student activities. I am extremely grateful and excited to be able to take part in the Leukemia Lymphoma Society's 2022 Student of the Year Campaign!

The SOY (Students of the Year) is a seven-week campaign where high school students compete against other students across the nation to raise the most money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Our mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin's disease, as well as improve the quality of life for patients and their families. 

Not only is our goal to raise the most money but as well inform and educate others about blood cancers such as Leukemia. Last year, my team S.W.A.G. (Students With A Goal), raised over $100,000 and are ready to do it again. As a team, we have a fundraising goal of $50,000 and in order to meet this goal we need your help!

I joined this campaign because Leukemia has impacted my family personally. A close family friend is currently fighting this type of cancer and I wanted to take on this opportunity in order to help. Being able to raise money for such a remarkable cause and to help positively impact the lives of blood cancer patients makes this experience very valuable. This fundraiser offers me a unique leadership opportunity to learn new life skills, spread awareness and truly make a difference. I hope that you will consider donating to such an incredible cause and help me reach my personal goal of $5,000! The support from people like you have made it possible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

LLS's continued commitment over the years have helped fund therapies and treatments that are now saving thousands of lives every day. Many LLS supported therapies not only benefit blood cancer patients but are currently used to treat patients with rare forms of skin and stomach cancers. These supported therapies are even being tested in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. 

We really are changing the face of blood cancer and making an impact for the lives of cancer patients and their families!
