Reese's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 22, 2022

Hello to all my friends and family! Thank you for taking the time to check out my fundraising page and learning what Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is all about. I am so excited to be a part of this year's campaign and to be a part of Team SWAG. My friends, classmates, and I are working together towards our fundraising goal of $50,000. In order to meet this goal, we need help in any way you possibly can.

The SOY (Students of the Year) Campaign is a seven-week program where high schools all over the nation work hard to raise money to support the mission of LLS: to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Not only is our team working to raise money to support this cause, but to also raise awareness of these diseases such as Leukemia. About every 3 minutes, one person in the US is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma.

I joined the LLS team and program in order to strengthen my communication and leadership skills and to also honor those who have lost their lives to these diseases. Many close friends and family members of mine have unfortunately passed away due to cancer and I feel that taking the time to raise money to provide for treatments and research will honor those who have passed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about this cause and I hope you join me to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org

Tomas' grandmother (Delia) is a living proof of the miracles of science and someone who fought Leukemia and is enjoying life. Thanks to everyone who is fundraising for this noble cause to allow others to have similar stories.
