I am excited to share that Becki and I have been asked to join my niece and nephew, Jack and Grace in participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2022 Students of the Year campaign! This a 7-week fundraising competition for high school students across the country to raise funds for the mission of curing blood cancers that runs from January 22^nd to March 12^th. We will be working hard over the next 7 weeks to raise as much money as possible that will help to cure cancer. Now that is something I can get behind!!!

The reason we have gotten involved with LLS is due to the fact that my father, Larry Thayer was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia back in 2006. He lived symptom-free for many years and then went through some difficult rounds of chemo and eventually was able to be put onto some amazing medications and is doing great!  

Bottom-line, everyone wins when cancer loses! Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
