Reaching my Goal!
IMPORTANT: If/when I reach my goal, I will GET "BLOOD" (TOMATO JUICE) DUMPED ON ME and post/share a video.
Me, Megan O'Neil, with my co-candidate Eiley Depman at LLS's Light the Night event honoring all blood cancer patients, and especially in memory of Eiley's grandfather!
Megan's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Hey Everyone! Thanks for visiting my page!
I am incredibly excited to be a candidate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Students of the Year Campaign! I am helping lead Team CUREit! with Eiley Depman and from January 22nd to March 12th, we are working to raise as many funds as possible for this campaign. These funds will help battle blood cancer and other cancers! We are working with LLS to find treatments and a CURE!
How the challenge works: The amount of money we raise translates to the number of votes we receive. The candidate(s)' whose team earns the most votes earns the title of Student or Students of the Year. I'd love for you to help us compete for that title!
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Unfortunately, most of us are touched by cancer in some way, often many times in our lives. Thanks to your support, Team CUREit!'s efforts will help fund treatments that are SAVING LIVES. Support from people like you has been responsible for blood cancer research and treatments that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers. That is a huge amount, and we're talking about lives! We have the power to save so many lives! That's amazing!
Did you know that chemotherapy started as a treatment for leukemia?
This campaign won't only help blood cancer patients. It will be a part of improving the lives of ALL CANCER patients! Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They are also in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. This truly spoke to me and moved me to participate in this campaign because I've had family members who have suffered from these cancers, even though I do not have a close connection to blood cancer. Also, being able to help make a difference and save lives is an incredible opportunity! LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day. I am so grateful to be involved with an organization that does this incredible work.
We really are getting close to CURING BLOOD CANCER! #beatingcancerisinourblood
Bottom line: LLS is doing life-saving work and we can both be involved! I'm doing this through my campaign. And you can do it by supporting my campaign and donating today! It's truly a special feeling to help make a difference. (:
If you have a personal connection to blood cancer, we'd love to hear your story. Please feel free to leave a comment or contact me at megano212005@gmail.com. Throughout our campaign, one of the most special parts has been learning the stories of so many who have been impacted by blood cancer, or any cancer for that matter. It has truly touched me to learn how many people we can help by partnering with LLS. Let's kick cancer's butt!
Any and all donations are so GREATLY appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit my website often (there will be updates like photos, videos, etc.!) and follow along on Instagram @teamcureit22 . Please also tell friends about my campaign and encourage them to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, THANK YOU! We really can't thank you enough. For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
