Hello, my name is Maria Escobar Justiniano, and I am here to tell you about my mission. Like most people around me, at least one person I care about has been in a battle against cancer. Two of my closest family friends both fought for years against ovarian cancer. Their battle, and the battles of many cancer patients have inspired me to do what I can to help. Cancer is scary and can threaten a person's chance at a happy and healthy life. I want to work towards saving lives by fighting for those who are unable to.

I have signed up to help lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. I am working with an amazing team of people, with three great candidates who really demonstrate how good people can make an impact every day. My team, Mission Possible, is dedicated to raising as much money as we can because together, we want to make a differenece for the better.

And, the candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me and my team earn that title?
 
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives, and help fund for hospital accomodations, to make the patients more comfortable throughout their time in treatement and recovery. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
