Katie's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 22, 2022

Hello family and friends! Welcome to my fundraising page. I am currently a junior at Georgetown Visitation, where I play lacrosse and field hockey and participate in multiple clubs. This year, I am so excited to announce that I will be taking part in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's 2022 Students of the Year Campaign! My team, S.W.A.T. 5.0, has been working so hard for these past few months and we are ready for kickoff! LLS is an organization that works to cure blood cancer through awareness, donations, and research. Like so many, my family has dealt with the devastating disease of cancer. Earlier this year my grandma passed away from cancer. Her passing made me want to help others going through the difficult journey cancer is for the patient and their family. A few years earlier, in 2017 my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Seeing her go through chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and undergo multiple surgeries really impacted me. It showed me how well these treatments worked as my mom was able to beat cancer and has been in remission since 2018! Her cancer experience also showed me how important a support system of friends and family are and how hard it would be without them. Although my grandma or mom did not have blood cancer, their cancer experiences made me want to help anyone through this difficult journey. Much work has been done through this organization, and my team is so excited to carry that even further this year! I hope you will consider donating to such an important cause that impacts so many. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

Katie's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 21, 2022

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
