When I was given the opportunity to become an LLS candidate I knew I had to in honor of my Poppy, Bill Forster. He always put others before himself whether that be in his family, donating to charities, or making friends with literally anyone we passed on the street. He was diagnosed in January 2015 with both leukemia and lymphoma, he fought very hard but ultimately lost his battle on February 15th, 2015, only 30 days after his diagnosis. Every day I miss him and wish my younger cousins would be able to build the memories my sister and I built with him. He did anything to make us laugh like pulling out his magic set, or flipping us upside down and having us “walk on the ceiling.” I am doing this in his honor because I know he would be extremely proud of the hard work and dedication I have put into this campaign. Seeing how his loss impacted me and my family shows me that no family should go through this. My team - cheering against cancer - raising money will allow for more research into new treatments that could help others diagnosed with blood cancer fight it off and be able to live and watch their families grow.

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?
 
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
