Ellie & Peter's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Our grandfather passed away of Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2009. He had 6 months from the time he was diagnosed to the time of his passing. In addition, some of the other father figures throughout our family have passed away from blood cancers as well. We are very familiar with how big of an impact cancer can make on families and hope to honor our grandfather and other family members by fundraising in order to promote research and raise awareness for this worthy cause.
We believe in the mission of LLS as we have seen firsthand how their cutting edge research makes a difference in the lives of patients. Our family friend's dad was diagnosed at the same age our grandfather was and with the exact same type of Leukemia; but two years later. Because of the advancement in treatment options, he was able to live for 3 years as opposed to the 6 months our grandfather did. We would have loved to have more time with him. We were only 3 and 5 when we lost him, our "Papouka."
We have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for our campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help us earn that title?
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, our efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit our website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org

Good Luck Ellie & Peter in your mission to making a difference in fighting Leukemia! My niece is a 3 time AML cancer survivor. She is now a Sophomore in College and she is only a few months older than my oldest child. She was diagnosed with AML at 21 months, 4.5 years and again 2-3 years ago. She has had a bone marrow transplant which save her life. My uncle also passed from AML... so we often donate to Penn State THON, Ronald McDonald House, "FTK" For the Kids, as well as LLS. These are truly the organizations that saved her life... God Bless and May your Grandfather's Memory be Eternal! Good Luck - The Georgopoulos Family - Sarantos, Jennifer, Sophia & Demetre xoxo
