Claire Hohman | Team Gators Beat Blood Cancer
Claire's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Dear Friends and Family,
I joined Gators Beat Blood Cancer in honor of my dad, Tim Hohman, who battled Hodgkin’s disease twice in the decade before I was born. My dad went through six months of chemotherapy and one month of radiation each time he battled Hodgkins. In addition, he suffers from cancer treatment side effects today. I would not be here if my dad had not benefited from investment in research that developed effective treatments for fighting blood cancer.
In honor of my dad, I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much money as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year.
I am hoping that the money I am able to raise through Gators Beat Blood Cancer will improve treatment for other patients, and help other children’s parents survive blood cancer and live long and fulfilling lives with their families. This fundraiser is very important to me because I have seen the impact of those who have struggled with blood cancer. I am proud to be involved with the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society and appreciate your support!
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers. Treatments today have much milder side effects than what my dad endured in 1996 and 2001.
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients like my dad, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
If you have friends who would support my cause, I would appreciate you sending them to my page. Or, please email me at chohman23@stoneridgeschool.org and I would be glad to reach out to them directly.
I am so appreciative of your consideration and time! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org

Claire: Thanks for your dedication to the mission of finding a cure for cancer. You have a very personal connection to the disease, which makes this campaign especially meaningful.
