Carrie's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Hi everyone and welcome to my fundraising page! My name is Carrie Finn and this year I joined Team S.W.A.G. (Students with a Goal) to fundraise and save lives for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. My personaI goal is to raise $5000 over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Your support is greatly appreciated!
This is my first year participating in this campaign and I am excited! I joined because of the impact that cancer has had on people in my life. My aunt is currently batting lymphoma and her story is what first inspired me to participate in the Students of the Year fundraiser. My mom's cousin was diagnosed with lymphoma 15 years ago, and treatments developed through LLS-funded research as well as information and resources LLS produces helped him through his fight. A key component to his treatment was rituximab which has improved the effectiveness of standard chemotherapy and was developed through LLS-funded research. A family friend was also able to beat lymphoma due to LLS-funded research and treatments. Her treatment, RCHOP, is the standard for all lymphoma patients who can tolerate it. It added a smart drug that only attacks the cancer, not all the cells in your body. This treatment has caused the survival rate to dramatically increase. However, there is more work to be done. A close friend of my mom's had a son who died at a young age from lymphoma before I had a chance to meet him. His story and so many others inspired me to join the campaign and raise money for such an important cause.
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
