As you may know, my paternal grandfather, who was an Air Force veteran, pediatrician, and father of five passed away from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in 1996 at just 57-years-old. This cause became even more urgent for me last September, with the completely unexpected and heartbreaking loss of our three-year-old pug, Lola also to AML. Not only is this campaign a great way to honor their memories, but it’s also an amazing opportunity to support LLS’ life-saving work. No family should have to endure the pain of losing a loved one. LLS is currently the largest funder of cutting-edge research to advance cures in blood cancer. They have invested nearly $1.3 billion in research – including current grants at Virginia Commonwealth University and University of Virginia. LLS also funds more than 60% of the therapies being used to treat other cancers. This is why I am so excited to be able to make a difference for patients and families in my community and across the country all with your support!
