Sydney's Students of the Year Fundraiser
I am so excited to announce that I am running as a candidate for The Leukemia and Lymphoma's 2021 Students of the Year campaign! I formed Team SWAG (Students With A Goal) alongside my classmates Anna Macon Corcoran and Kalle Masci. We have set our fundraising goal at $50,000 and I need your help in achieving that, it is no small task!
As many of you may know, I was a part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Students of The Year campaign as a team member last year. This year, I am taking on an even bigger role as a candidate. Students of the Year (SOY) is a seven-week campaign in which select high school students are encouraged to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Over the seven weeks, teams from across the country compete to raise the most money for the LLS.
I am using this opportunity to be a part of LLS to learn leadership and community skills. I want to make a real difference in the world and the money that my team raises will directly go towards funding life altering cancer treatments. This fundraising initiative is teaching me important life skills while helping cure cancer! This campaign has inspired me to go out and do good.
Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like Leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. Because of campaigns like Students of the Year, LLS has seen tremendous success in discovering new and more effective treatments for blood cancer patients and pediatric patients. I am honored to be a part of this initiative.
My family lost our closest family friend this past year, on December 9th. Robb Seymour battled the rare Squamous Cell Neck cancer for an exhausting 7 months. I have first-hand witnessed the pain and horror a cancer patient goes through during treatment. I want to be a part of the solution, and with your help, the LLS is one step closer to making that possible. I am doing this to help people like Robb--people who lit up every room they walked into, people who loved their friends and family, people who did not deserve to have their lives end early because of cancer.
Most importantly, cancer patients were hit even harder because of COVID-19. Cancer patients have already weakened immune systems and COVID-19 is another huge threat towards their survival. Your donation will make a big difference in the life of a cancer patient.
Thank you for taking time to read this! Any donation helps.

Having lost several family members to cancer, I am happy to donate to this worthy cause. More than that, Sydney is a stellar example of what our future will bring with young women like her in charge!

I lost my sister, Sarah, who was also my best friend, to AML twenty years ago. Our older daughter is named after her. My sister as able to meet her namesake. Cancer research is so important. I have little doubt my sister’s life would have been extended with today’s medical treatments. Thank you, Sydney, for your fundraising. <3
