National Capital Area Students of the Year
Margaret Herbold | Team Close Cares
Welcome to Margaret Ann Herbold's SOY Fundraising Page!
My name is Margaret Herbold, and I am a junior at National Cathedral School.
I am honored to have been accepted as a candidate in the 2018 Students of the Year Campaign, a seven-week initiative in which high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The candidate team who raises the most money at the end of the competition is named Student of the Year.
I am raising money in honor of a young patients currently battling or in remission from blood cancers. My mission is to not only to raise as much money as I can, but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. I want to do everything I can to help fund the incredible work and research LLS does, and to support patients and families battling cancer.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. Additionally, many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are helping patients with other cancers and life-threatening diseases. Drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases.
All donations are so appreciated and are tax deductible. Donations will support LLS-funded research, provide critical information and support for patients and families, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Thank you so much for your support!
