Why support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society(LLS)?

• LLS funded 43 of the 49 FDA approved treatments for blood cancer patients since 2017
• Since 2000, more than 40% of the new cancer therapies approved by the FDA started as blood cancer research

In 2018, Catherine Nelson wrote a very inspiring letter requesting support for LLS which was forwarded to me by Mark Atherton.  For those of you who don’t know Mark, his daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 5 and has been in remission for almost 18 years.   I donated and participated in the finale Gala held in Feb of 2019.  The DC region raised over TWO MILLION DOLLARS!

Catherine was nominated to this philanthropic leadership development program of exemplary high school students. During the campaign, high school students foster professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management in order to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).  The title Student(s) of the Year is awarded to the candidate or co-candidates in each community that raise the most. 

This year Catherine asked me to join her team which I do whole heartedly based on the tremendous success of the LLS organization's impact on treatments and research for cancer.  I also commend the organization's ability to engage our future leaders in such a positive and successful campaign.
