Welcome To My Fundraising Page!

I’m very excited to share with you that I'm part of the 2020 Student of the Year campaign and over the next 7 weeks, I will be working to raise money and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and their mission to find a cure for blood cancer. It’s an honor to be a part of such an outstanding group of fellow students, but an even greater honor to be able to work for the patients, survivors and their families.

As most of you may know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and life has not been the same for our family since then. I saw her undergo chemotherapy and multiple surgeries.  I know first hand what cancer can do families, how it can bring fear, tears, uncertainty, emotional struggles, and pain not only the individual affected but also their loved ones. It was the hardest year of my life.  I was only twelve years old and there wasn’t much I could do at the time to help her. All I could do was to bring her a glass of water every night, kiss her goodnight and tell her that I love her.

My first introduction to fundraising for a cause, was when my mom was battling cancer, and her friends joined Avon 39 mile walk and raised over $9,000 in her honor.  It was inspiring to see her friends leave their families for two days and walk for 39 miles for a cause. Since then, every year in September, our family forms a team for Susan G Komen walk and raise money for breast cancer.

When I learned about LLS SOY campaign, and I was approached by my friend Naomi White to join team CURE IT! I knew I had to join this important cause. Today, I’m proud to be part of this campaign to honor my mom and in honor of all of those who have fought any type of cancer or are still fighting their battles and for all the people who lost their fight.

LLS's research has incredible influence on other cancer treatments as well. it was incredible to learn that, since year 2000, 40% of ALL cancer drugs (including breast cancer, melanoma, prostate, & lung cancer... not just those for blood cancers) were first approved to treat blood cancer; and LLS funded more than 60% of the blood cancer therapies being used to treat other cancers.  Add to that that LLS funded drugs that are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis - I know the LLS mission is something we can all get behind.

My Personal fundraising goal is $5,000 and our team goal is to raise $100,000 through personal asks and corporate donations!! It’s a lofty goal, but me and my teammates have been working hard and will continue to work hard to reach it and we are confident that we can get there. But  we can not do it alone, and we need your help to get there.   Every single dollar helps!!
