Welcome to Shelby Parsons' SOY Fundraising Page!
Hello and Welcome to my Fundraising Page!
My name is Shelby Parsons. This year I am honored to represent Wootton High School in joining the Patriots for a Purpose team for the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society(LLS) 2020 Student of the Year(SOY) campaign. Patriots for a purpose is a group of students working to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The LLS SOY campaign is a seven week activity where teams of high school students from different schools are going against each other in a fundraising competition. The money will go into three different categories - research, education and support, and advocacy. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission is to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and Myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. While LLS raises money for new treatments for blood cancer, many of the treatments created are for other people cancers such as Breast Cancer, Bone cancer, and more.
What motivates me to raise money for LLS? My cousin Tanya. Tanya was a beautiful young woman with an even more beautiful personality - she wouldn’t hurt a fly. At 24 years old, Tanya was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After receiving lots of different treatment attempts, she sadly lost the battle at the age of 25. My grandmother, Mary Lynne, lost her battle to Breast Cancer 13 months later. Years later, my dad was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. He was able to overcome the disease
.
Raising money is important to me because Cancer not only has touched my life, but has touched and continues to touch the lives of many. Nobody should have to go through what Tanya went through. I am honored to be able to not only represent my school and team, but my family and everyone who has been affected by Cancer.
My team and I would really appreciate your consideration in donating to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are taking a stand against Cancer and so can you. Every donation counts. Please feel free to email me if you have any further questions: shelbyparsons5@gmail.com

I hope one day medicine finds a cure for Cancer. I would do anything to have my sister Tanya back. She lost her battle to Lymphoma at 25 and did not get to see all her beautiful family that would of truly loved her. Prayers to all the families and there loved ones.
