Hello!

My name is Sydney Krug and I am a freshman at Flint Hill School. Last year, I attended a fundraising event hosted by my friend Anna Hemmer and recently, I was given the opportunity to start working with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s 2020 Students of the Year Campaign.

The Leukemia Lymphoma Society (or LLS) helps to fund research for different types of blood cancer. The LLS mission states that their goal is to “Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families,” and they have honored this with their actions.

Since 2000, LLS has

• funded 43 of the 49 FDA approved treatments for blood cancer patients.

• invested $1.3 billion in blood cancer research.

• Launch LLS PedAL (Pediatric Acute Leukemia), a groundbreaking global precision medicine clinical trial in acute pediatric leukemia

My team’s goal is to raise $75,000 and my personal goal is to raise $4,000, but I hope that this can be a jumping-off point. the team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Students of the Year. Our goal is not only to raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
