Maggie Cope | Team S.W.A.T 3.0

Welcome to Maggie Cope's SOY Fundraising Page!

Feb 19, 2020

Dear Family and Friends,
I am currently a sophomore at Georgetown Visitation. I am an avid advocate of children’s cancer, and I am participating in S.W.A.T. 3.0 in honor of my 7 year old cousin, Charlie, who was cured from Leukemia in 2017.

S.W.A.T. 3.0 has worked hard on our campaign, and I am proud to be a part of such a great team! Our goal is to raise $100,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and we are committed to reaching it.

Please join S.W.A.T. 3.0 in the fight to end blood cancer and donate!

I am honored to be a candidate for S.W.A.T. 3.0 and to be participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2020 Students of the Year (SOY) campaign. SOY is a seven-week initiative in which high school leaders across the country participate in a competition to fundraise for LLS’s mission: to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Students of the Year raises funds in honor of  those who are currently battling or are in remission for blood cancer. I am fundraising in honor of my cousin Charlie (7) who was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2013 and was cured in 2017. I am also fundraising in honor of Kelly Brodnick, a member of the Georgetown Visitation community who passed away last year. I can’t imagine how much Charlie and Kelly suffered through cancer and I want my campaign to help other children and their families. Charlie and Kelly have inspired me to join Students of the Year and to make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer.

At the end of the seven weeks of fundraising, the team that raises the most money is named Students of the Year. As a team, our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. My personal goal is to raise $15,000 to help fund research and raise awareness for all types of blood cancer. Our team goal is to raise $100,000 dollars and we appreciate you helping in any way you can!

S.W.A.T. 3.0 hopes to strengthen our communication skills through our philanthropic efforts and to share our cause with those around us. No matter how large or small, every donation is a step closer to a cure.

Join S.W.A.T. 3.0 in our fight against cancer!
