Students of the Year Washington DC
Katrina Clark | Team Harmonizing a Cure
Welcome to Katrina Clark's SOY Fundraising Page!
We are officially halfway through the campaign! I cannot believe how much I’ve learned and grown in these last few weeks since kickoff. I’ve learned a lot about emails, organization, and how to get unbelievably excited every time I get an email notification. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and our team, from the sponsors to people who just really like chipotle.
The main thing I noticed was an increase of gratitude. I’ve become more grateful for everyone in my life, for the amazing support system I have behind me. From Amanda, Ally, Jenna and the LLS team to my amazing parents to my inspiring teammates; I have all the support in the world behind me.
For Valientines Day please consider making a donation. Hundreds of people are losing their loved ones every day to blood cancers. Hundreds of people will spend their Valentine’s Day in the hospital, undergoing decades old treatments waiting and hoping for a new cure.
Concert for a Cure
This week we have a concert with the Magnetic Toxins at the Laurel Hill Community Center. They start performing at 7. See you there
6 years ago today
My Great Uncle David lost his battle with leukemia. The night before my mom told me that he was in the hospital with pneumonia, and when I woke up the next day I learned that he passed away at 4 am. It’s been six years and I still regret that I never rode on top of the hay bails, or got to feed the cows. That I never learned how he picked names for all the cows or how he could remember each one. No family should have to have six years without their loved one because of a disease. Rest well Uncle David.
Welcome to Katrina Clark's SOY Fundraising Page!
I am so excited to participate as a team member for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week campaign in which high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to support our team: Harminizing for A Cure in raising critical dollars in honor of a my Great Uncle David, who passed away from Acute Myloid Leukemia around at almost 6 years ago. I knew as soon as I heard about this opportunity that I wanted to do it, I wanted to prevent families from having to wonder how many more months they'd have, if this was their last Christmas with them, or their last anything. Our goal as a team is to raise 37,000 dollars to help fund new research for cures of blood cancers such as Acute Myloid Leukemia.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. Donations go towards three main categories: research for cures, support for families, and advocacy for the diseases. I can't fight for new cures alone, I truly need all the support that I can get.
Please visit our website often to keep up with our campaign and share with your friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!

Congratulations, Katrina and teammates, for breaking the school record! You've set the bar high for successive classes to meet and beat! We're sure that not only is your uncle smiling down on you from Heaven, but everyone is proud of your accomplishment. Imagine the countless people your fundraising will help. You may not know who they are, and they certainly don't know you or what you've done for them, but because of the money you raised, leading to better research and medicine, you have given them (and their families) the gift of a longer life.
