Hi Everyone!

My name is Ingrid Searby, and I am so excited and honored to be participating in the 2020 LLS Students of the year campaign. I am 16 years old, and a junior at National Cathedral School in Washington DC. I have two siblings, Sophie and Wilson, and a dog named Piper. My parents are Martha and Bruce Searby, and I am so grateful for their support in helping me fundraise. 

Blood cancers affect so many families and I am hoping to do anything I can to make sure no family has to experience blood cancers, or other cancers in the future. I am also working to help generate the most support for the families and patients of today. There is so much hope, and every donation counts towards making progress! I have family members and family friends that have been affected by different types of cancer, and the impact of LLS on even non-blood related cancers is so important. I am fighting for those I know, and those I do not so that we can face a cancer-free future!

As a member of team Close Cares, I will work in a 7-week fundraising window to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. 
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is an organization that works to find cures and ensure treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma. Although LLS focuses on treatment for blood cancers, LLS has helped to pioneer treatments for many different cancers. For example, since 2000, more than 40% of the new cancer therapies approved by the FDA started as blood cancer research  I believe that the work that LLS does is crucially important to fighting cancers today, and for the patients of the future. With every day and every donation, we are closer to finding a cure, and every day brings more hope.
