I am priviledged to have the opportunity to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program as apart of the team, Team Hero 2. The Students of the Year program is a seven-week leadership campaign in which select high school students from around the DMV compete with one another to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We have dedicated our efforts to a local high school student who is currently in treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. However, all of our funds will go towards funding research, therapies, treatments, etc. within the foundation. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers such as leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer found in children and teens. 

Many of LLS's advancements since the 1960's are responsible for blood cancer survival rates being doubled, tripled, and frequently quadrupled. Not only have their therapies and treatments benefited blood cancers, but they are also helping other patients with other cancers and critical diseases. As a matter of fact, drugs that were first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers. and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
