Students of the Year Washington DC
Grace Barnes | Team Juliana
Welcome to Grace Barnes' SOY Fundraising Page!
Welcome to my page!
I am so excited to be participating in the 2019 Students of the Year campaign, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
I am running for Student of the Year in honor of my best friend, Juliana Rae Clarkson, who was only 14 years old when she was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of leukemia: Mixed-phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL). Despite Juliana’s strength and positivity throughout her treatment, she lost her battle just two months later.
Leukemia is still the #1 cancer killer of people under the age of 20, but the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has raised $1.2 billion in research that has lead to groundbreaking treatements. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but those suffering from other cancers and serious diseases.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
Each dollar donated to this campaign is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
