Students of the Year Washington DC
Cami & Gracie Brown | The White Outs
Welcome to Cami & Gracie Brown's SOY Fundraising Page!
Today, February 4th, is World Cancer Day! We are honoring the family and friends in our lives that have been effected by cancer. They are the reason we partake in Student of the Year to fight for a cure in hopes that no one else has to endure the losses that we have. Find our honored heroes using this link!

About Us!
Our names are Cami (16) and Gracie Brown (15) and we are students at Oakton High School. We are each hard working individuals and love being involved within the community as we are both members of National Charity League. Both of us are involved in many Oakton clubs, and play competitive soccer as Cami plays for the Herndon Hooligans and Gracie plays soccer for the Washington Spirit Development Academy. Both of us have been greatly touched by cancer through family and friends, as we want to work with LLS to promote awareness and raise all the money we can to fight for a cure. We joined Hannah’s team after volunteering at the Light the Night Fundraiser, a wonderful event LLS hosts to support survivors, supporters and those who have lost loved ones to cancer. In one years time, our family lost 3 grandparents to cancer, and in this year alone, our Aunt Cheryl was diagnosed with breast cancer and we lost an uncle to myeloproliferative disease. We are supporting LLS in memory of those we have lost. It’s because of organizations like LLS and the awareness and research that they raise, our Aunt is the first in our family to survive cancer, and because of her, we will continue to fight for a cure and we hope you will do the same.
Welcome to Cami & Grace Brown's SOY Fundraising Page!
We are honored to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are proud to be raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!

Gracie/Cami - Thank you for doing this. 6 years ago one of my best friends 4 year old son was diagnosed with Leukemia and today is a happy healthy and completely normal 10 year old. Two years ago my brother was also diagnosed with a very aggressive Leukemia and a few months later I was able to donate my stem cells to him and today he is healthy and working and supporting his family. I am 100% convinced that these two stories would not have had a happy ending without the research funding and support of LLS.
Clark & Lenette Howard
Cami & Gracie - With Clark being a survivor of non-hodgkin's lymphoma and Lenette's aunt Sylvia having died from leukemia, we can personally attest to how important a cause this is to so many people. You guys are making a difference, for which you and your parents should be very proud. Keep up the great work! Take care, Clark & Lenette
