Thank you for stopping by my 2019 National Capital Area Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Circle of Hope fundraising page!
In 2015, I had the honor of being a LLS Woman of the Year candidate in the prestigious Man & Woman of the Year Campaign. The campaign is an intense 10 weeks to raise funds & awareness for LLS. After the 10 weeks, my incredible network helped raise over $122K, funding two cancer research portfolios. One CLL portfolio in memory of Howard Wheatley & one AML portfolio in honor of Loriana Hernandez.
Since 2015, I have been a volunteer on the LLS National Capital Area Leadership Team. This is a group of the most relentless, passionate and caring leaders in the DC area. In this leadership capacity we fundraise, recruit and mentor candidates, curing cancer is in our blood.
Thanks to my amazing network, since 2015, we have impacted over $408K supporting LLS efforts! Since 2017, the FDA has approved 32 blood cancer treatments, 26 of those approved LLS helped to advance.
Why do I support LLS? I support this organization as I now know many people alive due to the critical research trials they fund. Leukemia is the number one cancer in children under the age of 20 years old and in 1964, the five-year survival rate for children with the most common form of Leukemia was only 4%, today, 90% of those diagnosed will survive.
Also, many LLS supported therapies are now used to in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. Please also don't forget to see if your company may match the donation.
