I have had the honor of being nominated as a Student of the Year Candidate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Through this program, I receive the privilege of raising every dollar possible to fund cancer research. This period runs for seven weeks, from February 20th to April 7th!

Over the last few months, I have created a team of over 10 committed members, ranging from my high school friends to adults that have inspired me. We are Team Cancer Warriors. Collectively, we will raise money for the largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers, as we fund cutting-edge research and treatments. 

Unfortunately, like many other families have experienced, I have felt the first-hand effects of knowing someone with cancer. During a summer research experience, I witnessed my professor and role model go through long weeks of chemotherapy. This truly showed me how severe and unfortunate cancer can be. In addition, my family has found a close connection to this cause, as we have recently lost two family members to cancer. This campaign is in honor of them. Rest in peace Surjit & Kamaljit Sandhar. Through my unwavering passion for this cause, I want to assure that no family has to live without the ones they love because of cancer. 

Whether it be through some school organization or simply talking to others, I have learned that keeping my community in mind is very important. Having run in races like the Krispy Kreme 5K, Run for the Ridge 5K, and Ella's Race, I have seen my community come together and make large strives to help those struggling. Through this fundraiser, I will work extensively to bring my community together, so we can make a direct impact in the fight against cancer.

Each and every donation is important. Please remember, every bit counts. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
