My name is Dominic Mazza, and I'm a Senior at West Forsyth High School. In 2021 I will be leading a team to campaign and raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and to fight blood cancer.

I chose to participate in this campaign beause I have seen the sadness cancer can bring. A friend and teammate of mine, Carlos Aguilar, was diagnosed with stage 4 sarcoma cancer his freshman year, and passed away in 2018. Witnessing his fight against this sickness was inspirtational to everyone. It brought the reality home on the effects cancer can have on someone's life and the lives of their family, friends, and loved ones.

There are over 1.2 million Americans living with blood cancer, and the number continues to rise. LLS is the leading organization fighting the disease. Although their research is focused on blood cancer, their work is used for other types of cancers as well. In fact, LLS played a crucial role in advancing immunotherapy. In 2017, two CAR T-cell immunotherapies were FDA approved for blood cancers. This new approach is now being tested in more than 500 clinical trials for other cancers.

In this seven-week initiative, select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

We are working to change the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need. Every donation helps and is very greatly appreciated.

Please visit our website often! Also feel free to send this link to friends, family colleagues, or anyone that could help. If you aren't able to donate at the time, you could send a quick text or email sharing this link!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
