Welcome to Reynolds High School's SOY Fundraising Page!
Welcome to Team Byrne's Gott The Cure! We are very excited to be taking part in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Students of the Year Fundraising Campaign. Over a seven week period from February 7 to March 7, our goal is to raise $50,000 to help eradicate blood cancer.
The Students of the Year campaign is a program where teenagers of various different backgrounds are nominated to create a team and compete for one common goal: to raise the most money for Leukemia and Lymphoma research. This fundraising is performed through individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and special events.
Garrett joined the campaign because of the many close ties that his family has had with blood cancers. Both his aunt Christina and great aunt Harriet battled different types of these cancers, and while Christina eventually won her fight, Harriet lost the fight in 2002. Before passing away from her illness, LLS supported her both financially and emotionally during her battle, even covering the expenses of her many flights for treatment around the country. This constant support made a difficult time much more manageable for Harriet, and his family is forever grateful for all that LLS did to assist her. For this reason, Garrett is honored to be a part of such a charitable and life-changing organization.
Noah is excited to be a part of the Students of the Year Campaign for many reasons. Like Garrett, cancer has affected many of his loved ones. He is proud to be part of the fight against ailments like lymphoma, which afflicted his grandfather. Additionally, his grandmother Marcia passed away from breast cancer in 2010. Noah also joined the campaign because of his appreciation for clinical research. After interning with the nonprofit organization Greater Gift, he became very passionate about supporting the life-saving work being done in the clinical research field. Leukemia and Lymphoma Society works to support an extensive network of research organizations, in addition to aiding patients in their decision to take part in a study. This is a unique part of LLS that Noah greatly admires.
Over a million Americans are living with blood cancer and every three minutes someone is diagnosed. Leukemia is the second deadliest cancer in children under the age of 20. Every dollar we raise goes directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
We thank you all so much for supporting our team.
For the cure,
Noah Gottlieb and Garrett Byrne
