Chapel Hill for a cure -Jaxon and Jenna Walsh

Feb 25, 2025

Hi! Our names are Jaxon and Jenna Walsh, and we are students at East Chapel Hill High School. This year, we are honored to be selected as co-candidates of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign. We have formed a team of family and friends, Chapel Hill for a Cure, and have kicked off the fundraising effort for the LLS campaign. Our team is working to raise as much as possible to help LLS achieve its mission to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life of more than 1.5 million Americans living with blood cancers.

We are participating in this program because our grandfather, Lee Monsein, was diagnosed with smoldering Multiple Myeloma. Along with our grandfather, we have had many other family members who have fought or are bravely fighting Myeloma and Leukemia. There’s so much we don’t know about these awful blood cancers and we want to make an impact. As we got involved with LLS, we learned even more about the impact they make, which makes this mission even more important to us. As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of cancer patients and people with other diseases.

  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.

  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes to accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Our team goal is to raise $50,000 between now and April 10th, 2025. We are determined to achieve this goal and your contribution--large or small--is greatly appreciated and makes a big difference!

Please consider joining this fight by making a tax-deductible donation. There are many ways you can help.

  • Use the Donate Today button on this webpage to make your donation.

  • Please share this link with friends who might also like to donate.

  • See if your employer matches here: https://www.lls.org/ways-help/employee-matching-gifts . If your employer matches, please ask them to include "SVOY Jaxon and Jenna Walsh" in the Memo section.

  • Support the Grand Finale Gala by letting us know if you want to donate an Auction item, or if you know a company that would be interested in buying an advertisement or being a sponsor.

With your support, we hope our efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

With sincere thanks,

Jaxon and Jenna
