Alex's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page and to learn more about the amazing program I am fortunate to be a part of.
This year, I have signed up with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to be apart of their Student Visionaries of the Year program. I, along with my co-candidate Soraya Shah, form team Cure Crew. Our goal over the 7-week fundraising campaign is to raise 100,000 dollars to support LLS in their mission of eradicating blood cancer.
Every 9 minutes, someone in the US will be diagnosed with blood cancer. On a more macro-level, it is likely that every person you interact with today will know someone or have been personally impacted by cancer.
My campaign represents a refusal to accept these facts, and a commitment to creating a world where they are no longer true. By donating to this campaign, you are also saying NO to cancer, and becoming a part of this change. LLS was founded on three main mission pillars including funding cutting-edge research on blood cancer and other types as well, advocating for cancer-related policy changes that save lives, and providing education and resources for both patients and their families. A donation to Team Cure Crew is a way to support me in helping LLS achieve these goals, all of which have profound impacts on those that are battling cancer and their vast support networks.
MY WHY
I am not only taking part in the SVOY campaign to support the LLS mission, but also to honor my family members who have fought bravely against cancer and inspire me every day.
I am running for my Uncle Matt, diagnosed with Lymphoma, he beat it and is now heavily involved with LLS and helping other blood cancer patients.
I am running for my Uncle Terry, diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer, he went through a incredibly challenging road but it still here today, making us laugh and sharing his infinite wisdom. This past month however, my uncle started his second battle, this time in the form of pancreatic cancer. While he continues to fight hard, his battle is a constant reminder to me about how awful the disease of cancer is in all of its various forms. His journey makes things all the more clear to me about why I am running as his journey proves that nobody deserves cancer.
I am running for my Aunt Ginger, a breast cancer survivor whom I love for her kind attitude and ability to rock a bedazzled t-shirt.
And I am running for my father, diagnosed with sarcoma in his neck in 2021, I watched as he went to daily radiation appointments, lost his taste, and fought this horrible disease while still showing up for the important events in my life and telling me that he would be okay. Every day I am grateful for how courageous he was in fighting his cancer battle as I don't know what I would do without him.
As is evident above, cancer strikes a very personal chord with me. I won't stop until nobody has to have the expericence of seeing a love one battle cancer and feel the fear that goes along with it. Donations to this campaign mean that you also share this goal and want to see an end for cancer!
All donations made to the campaign are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often to hear updates on our team's progress and information about upcoming events. If you would like to get more involved, please consider sharing the link to this fundraising page with your friends, on social media, and any other networks you are a part of.
This is a wonderful oppurtunity for YOU to make an impact on the lives of millions of people impacted by cancer and I hope you will join me to ensure that my generation is the last one to see cancer!
On behalf of Team Cure Cure and blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you so much!
Ollie and Po say thank you as well!
