I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

We are honored to be a part of the 2023 Student Visionary of the Year campaign.  We were introduced to LLS last year when our family was asked to participate as a team under our friend, Kate Brandt.  Although Leukemia and Lymphoma have not directly affected our family, many other cancers have.  We were intrigued to learn that the research done by LLS helps support cures for blood cancers as well as many other types of cancer.  We have two family members who have died of brain tumors, one family member died of colon cancer and several family members who have been affected by breast cancer; one who recently lost her battle.  The research LLS has done to help those affected by each of these types of cancer is something we are passionate about continuing to support.  It is our goal to build a team of others who are passionate about funding research done by LLS to save lives and support those affected by all types of cancer. 

In May, after we signed on to become part of this year’s campaign, our dad lost his close friend, John, to a rare form of leukemia that was undiagnosed until his death. After seeing how hard this loss was for my dad and his friends, as well as John’s wife and young children, we have become even more passionate about helping LLS raise funds to prevent this loss for others in the future.

We are excited to join our good friend, Lawson Surles, as Team LLB for LLS to help grow a larger network that can raise money for LLS research for blood cancer and all types of cancer.   We appreciate your support in helping us towards our goal of raising money and awareness for LLS research. Together, our Team LLB for LLS fundraising goal is $75,000!
