Hi Family and Friends!

I am once again fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Man and Woman of the Year (MWOY) Campaign in Charlotte.  Since my own campaign in 2017, I've continued to be involved with the campaign, serving as the Co-Chair of the MWOY Leadership Committee for the past two years.  I want to sincerely thank each of you for your past support!  In the year of my campaign we collectively raised an astounding $1.4 million for the fight against cancer!  Our hope is to double that in 2019!!  It's a huge goal, but I'm hoping that you will once again join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Thanks to your support, our efforts, will continue to help fund the therapies and treatments needed to help save lives!

As most of you know, my youngest brother, Chris battled and beat leukemia when he was a child.  My family and I are so thankful that he survived, but sadly so many who battled beside him did not and so many still die from these terrible diseases.  However, as a direct result of LLS's continued advancements over the years, the blood cancer survival rate has doubled and tripled; and in some cases, has even quadrupled!  In addition, many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also being used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

I also want to share some sad news with you all.  Ally Davis, the 2017 MWOY Girl of the Year, has relapsed.  Ally was an important part of my campaign and this has been devasting news.  Ally battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma and was declared cancer free toward the end of my campaign.  Since that time, she has been an amazing ambassador for LLS at such a young age.  I have been truly inspired by her courage, strength and tenacity.  She is a fighter and is continuing to fight, but she needs our help with furthering research and treatment options.

Please consider being a part in the fight against cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. The funds not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.  If you are able, please donate during the MWOY campaign which ends on May 31st.

Please visit my Web site often and forward to friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your continued support!

Shelley Miller
