Pete Pignetti | Team Grance for the Cure
Pete's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Everyone has their own story, but we all share the losses caused by a common enemy, cancer. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a global leader in the fight against cancer and I want to join the team to help patients and their families. I want to take steps to change the landscape of, and eventually end, cancer.
I was so excited when Graham and Lance asked me to be a member of their team to raise money for leukemia. A friend of mine, Jordan, had Leukemia before I met him in the 8th grade. My grandmother is also a 20 year breast cancer survivor. I see Jordan giving himself shots and pills years after his remission. Whenever I see him do it, I would always think to myself how no kid should have to carry such a burden. I am lucky enough to have never experienced cancer, but I know others are not so lucky. I chose to be a part of this campaign, so that no one will ever have to live with that again and to do whatever I can to help find the cure.
Our team is working to raise as much as possible over 7 weeks (Jan 15 - March 5). Every dollar we raise counts as one vote for my team, Grance for the Cure, and a blow against cancer. I have set a personal goal of $8,000 and I am excited to make it happen!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Thank you for your support,
Pete

Pete, nice work. A few of my close friends have chronic cancer and it’s so scary. They have truly suffered but their strength in the face of it all is something to behold. I think it’s about time they find a cure!!
