Hope Hylinski | Team Kicking for a Cure
Hope's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Everyone has their own story, but we all share the losses caused by a common enemy, cancer. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a global leader in the fight against cancer and I want to join the team to help patients and their families. I want to take steps to change the landscape of, and eventually end, cancer.
When given the opportunity to help others, I always take it; and when Ivy Monk and James Harper reached out to me to be part of their team, Team Kicking for a Cure, I was so touched to see my friends working with such an amazing organization with an incredible goal. The mission to cure cancer is something that has always been important to me because I believe that if there's a way to help others and save lives, we should all do everything we possibly can. My grandfather died of cancer before I was born, so I never got the chance to meet him. The impact of losing someone you love and missing out on making memories with them is a feeling that is difficult to overcome. Therefore, it is important that we come together and fight for a cure as a community.
Our team is working to raise as much as possible over 7 weeks (Jan 15 - March 5). Every dollar we raise counts as one vote for my team, and a blow against cancer. Our team has an aggressive goal of $100,000 and I want to help us get there.
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Thank you for your support,
Hope
