Ashton's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Everyone has their own story, but we all share the losses caused by a common enemy, cancer. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a global leader in the fight against cancer and I want to join the team to help patients and their families. I want to take steps to change the landscape of, and eventually end, cancer.
I decided to become a team member for the 2021 Student of the Year campaign because my friend who participated last year (and won!) had a great time raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I thought it would be a great way to become involved in my community as well. Personally, the mission to cure cancer is of huge importance to me because my grandmother died of Leukemia when my dad was 15. I believe that no mother should have to see a child go through this and lose them, and no son or daughter should have to say goodbye to their parent at such an early age. Cancer is brutal not only on the human body but also on the families who are watching their loved one suffer so much. I am extremely excited to begin fundraising for such an amazing campaign!
Our team is working to raise as much as possible over 7 weeks (Jan 15 - March 5). Every dollar we raise counts as one vote for my team, Team Qrusaders, and a blow against cancer. Our team has an aggressive goal of $100,000 and I want to help us get there!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Thank you for your support,
Ashton
