Dear Friends and Family,
16 years ago, on an October night in 2003, my husband received a phone call from his mother, Lynn, letting him know that his father, Lee, was in the hospital. We rushed to Fayetteville, NC to figure out what was going on. We arrived in Fayetteville and spent the next day at the hospital trying to make sense of what was happening. Within days, Lee was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia and was sent to Duke University Hospital for treatment. Lee passed away on November 25, 2003 at Duke, 43 days after first being diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, AML Type 4, and three weeks before I was due with his first grandchild, Forbes.
Forbes is now 16 years old, and I am so proud of him. He has been chosen to participate in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Student of the Year program. This fundraising campaign is an intense seven week program in which local high schoolers compete to raise funds to benefit LLS, a cause very near and dear to our family.

This is a personal mission for our family, and I am thrilled to be a part of his team, Forbes' Fighters. Every dollar that Forbes raises is a vote for his campaign, and one step closer to finding a cure for blood cancers. The candidate that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named the Student of the Year. We greatly appreciate your donation to his cause, as well as your help in spreading the word through social media and email lists. The campaign ends on March 13, 2020 - so NOW is the time! No donation is too small or large, and please remember that your company may match your donation! All donations are tax deductible.
Also, if you would like to attend the Grand Finale on March 13, 2020, please let me know. There are many options for securing tickets to attend this special night and support all of the candidates.
For the cure,
Susan Wallace

Brad’s dad sounds like he was an amazing man. He was lost much too soon, and it’s awesome that Forbes and his friends have chosen this cause to spread awareness and raise money. Good luck! Brad and Lara
