I, Jasmine Pham, am honored to say that I am a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student of the Year campaign and am representing the Jags Hunt For A Cure campaign. I am writing today to ask for your support in my efforts to help LLS in its mission to ensure access to cures and treatments for blood cancers. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services. I am competing with several other Student of the Year candidates in New Orleans, LA. Together, we will each put our best fundraising foot forward in honor of all those fighting blood cancer.  

This is Nora Burns, a now six year old residing in New Orleans. At the age of four, she was diagnosed with Leukemia and stayed in Children’s Hospital New Orleans LCMC Health, where she underwent treatment. Throughout the time of the pandemic, it was especially difficult as only one parent was allowed to stay in the hospital rooms, but Nora persevered and responded to treatment well. Today, Nora is in remission and continues to receive outpatient treatment monthly. She stands strongly, inspirational to us all.

While childhood leukemia has the highest cure rate of any blood cancer, it is also still the number-one disease killer among children under the age of 20. This needs to change, and I know that as we come together and partner with 

LLS, we will find a cure, not someday, but today! We as a community have the power and resources to unite and help all present and future patients and to honor all those of the past. Any and all contributions are humbly and immensely appreciated. Thank you! ❤️

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
