Evie's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Mar 01, 2021

Hi everyone!

I’m honored to be selected by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a Student of the Year candidate, proudly representing Louise S. McGehee School. I am raising money to help individuals fighting cancers who don’t have the luxury of knowing if they will live another day. This opportunity has allowed me to see the world differently, especially now during Covid-19, we need to help each other more than ever. The pandemic has caused everyone to worry more about their health than ever before, but this is how cancer patients feel every day. People thought it was impossible to create a vaccine for Covid-19, but in less than a year this was accomplished because our brilliant researchers had the funding they needed. We can do the same thing to end cancer, but the researchers need our help. I understand this is a difficult time for everyone, but anything helps; even a single dollar or spreading the word to someone you know can help.

I am proud to be raising money in honor of my grandfather Bruce Kramer who lives with leukemia, my father Scott Taranto who is a kidney cancer survivor, my grandfather Alan Taranto who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, my grandmother Barbara Long who is a melanoma survivor, and finally my grandmother Lynn Behr Taranto who sadly passed from pancreatic cancer. There are so many people who are impacted by so many different cancers, but the money I raise goes directly towards research and donations for all of the cancers that affect people everyday; including blood cancers. In order to raise awareness and money for cancer patients, the LLS and I have created this website, where you can donate directly, and/or join my team (https://www.llsform.org/0050FS01/0bmbtp3nhc/index.html) so you can be a part of curing cancer. If you become part of my team, you could later be selected to be a Student of the Year (SOY) candidate like me. If you would like to be a part of my team please email me at eviet@mcgeheeschool.com or you can text me at (504)450-7406. I really appreciate your time and consideration, and I hope you will help me on the important journey of beating cancer with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Please feel free to visit this website as often as you can and share it with everyone you know who would also like to join me in the fight against cancer. Together, we have the power, the passion and the resolve to achieve a world without cancers like blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible. On behalf of cancer patients and their families everywhere, I sincerely thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit lls.org

With appreciation,

Evie Taranto
