Kelly, my cousin, and Louis Dale, my dear friend and distant cousin, both lost battles with leukemia. Kelly was 30 and a geologist with an oil company in Houston. She was an amazing and TALL woman (6'4"). Her paternal grandfather also died at a young age from the same thing. Louis Dale's battle was with the form of leukemia that most often strikes males over the age of 50.
