About me
My name is Tommy Panvica and I am a senior at Bloomington Jefferson High School. I am honored to participate as a candidate for the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week fundraising campaign in which I will participate to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to support my friend Nate Gfroerer who is currently recovering from a bone marrow transplant after battling chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) since 2015, when he was a freshman in high school. I also would like to honor my uncle, Mike Panvica, as he defeated leukemia (ALL) as a child. Unfortunately, my great aunt Margaret Menning was not able to beat non-Hodgkins/CLL lymphoma, and lost her battle at age 53 in 1998.
Our Goal
For my campaign, my team and I have set a goal to raise $50,000. I know this is a significant amount, but this cause is very important to me. If we reach this goal, I will be able to name a LLS-funded research grant in honor of Nate. This research will be able to help millions of people since many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases.
The candidate that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate! Share on social media to get the word out!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
