Shelby Domagala's SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 07, 2019

Hello everyone!

My name is Shelby Domagala and I go to Tartan High School in Oakdale, MN. I have been nominated as a 2019 Student of the Year candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). This is a seven week fundraising campaign that goes from January 7-February 26. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. I chose to participate in Students of the Year for one reason.

With 21 cases of cancer in the last 15 years, my high school has a cancer epidemic. There is an event at my school called Relay for Life, where we raise monet for cancer research. To participate in Relay, each student at Tartan who wants to participate has to raise at least $100, which allows them an overnight stay on our football turf for the Relay for Life event. Although every dollar counts when it comes to cancer research, I want to make a larger impact than just raising $100. So for this 7 week campaign, I set a goal of $50,000. I realize that this is a large goal to shoot for, but I have tunnel vision and I am determined to reach my goal. My hope is that if I were to get cancer, someone else would want to make a goal as large as this in order to make an impact in my life.

My team, Team Shelby and I are working hard to reach our goal of $50,000 so we can link our donation to a research portfolio in honor of a family friend's daughter who passed away 8 years ago from cancer, Malia. In order for this to happen, we need YOU!

All donations are 100% tax deductible. LLS Tax ID # is 13-5644916. I hope you’ll help me reach my goal in order to make an impact with cancer research.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible!. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

Please spread the word to your friends and family about my campaign and this page!

Thank you for your support!
