Campaign Kick-Off
Dear Friends and Family,
I am writing on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society “Student of the Year” fundraising campaign. I was excited to be considered as a candidate to participate in this campaign, and am even more excited to provide you with an opportunity to assist in the fight against leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. This campaign is a 7 week fundraising blitz with students from area schools trying to raise the most money and to be named the ‘2019 Student of the Year’.
In the United States, every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every 10 minutes in the United States, someone dies from leukemia or another blood cancer. Through researching, I found out it is a leading disease killer of children and Leukemia strikes nearly nine times as many adults as children. No one is safe from a blood cancer; it does not discriminate. Therefore, your donation will help save lives.
I haven’t personally been affected by leukemia but have seen how this disease can affect people and their families. I am a sophomore at Kapaun Mount Carmel Catholic High School, and last year, one of our seniors, Kirke Padgett, was diagnosed with leukemia. I also was able to meet Bella, this years honored patient, a 7 year old little girl, and her story inspired me to want to raise money to find a cure. This disease doesn’t discriminate, an 18 year old boy and a 7 year old girl, both with a blood cancer, both having their lives and those of their loved ones turned upside down. Both survivors. I also want to be a pediatric oncologist when I am older, helping children like Bella and their families . I feel that participating in this campaign, raising money and learning first hand what is involved, will help me learn more about the different types of cancers and blood diseases.
The student who raises the most money during the campaign will be named “Student of the Year”. My personal goal is to raise $20,000 toward the fight against these diseases. With your help and generosity, I will succeed in reaching my goal and we will all be winners. The funds raised through this campaign will stay in Kansas, helping Kansas patients and their families with Co-Pay assistance, travel expenses, and also fund the many programs that the LLS provides for their patients and families.
Please make your check payable to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and mail it back in the provided envelope. Any amount LARGE or SMALL, will be greatly appreciated. Please mail your contribution by Friday, March 1, 2019 to ensure that your contribution will be awarded to this campaign.
I want to thank you for your generous support of this campaign and the LLS. Every single dollar counts, so please give what you can, and know that you're providing hope to blood cancer patients and their families. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or for more information. You can reach me at wolffabby28@gmail.com or (316) 650-6288. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and thank you for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Abby Wolff

Welcome to Abby Wolff's SOY Fundraising Page!
I am honored to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to be raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!

Abby, thank you for participating in this very important battle of cancer. My Nephew, Connor, battled Lymphoma when he was two. He has been in remission for several years now and was selected as Student of the Year in Delaware about three years ago. I hope you will be honored for all of your hard work with the title of “Student of the Year” 2019. Good Luck.
