Students of the Year Kansas City

LS for LLS | LS for LLS's Campaign Team

Welcome to LS for LLS' SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 25, 2019

We are Addison Hill and Paytn Godshall, seniors at Lee’s Summit West High School. We serve on our Student Senate as Secretary and Community Liaison. Both of us are passionate about people and are involved in many activities where we get to hear stories and build relationships. When we were approached with the opportunity to lead a campaign for Students of the Year, we were eager to help use our passion to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This opportunity will help us build leadership, entrepreneurship, market and project management skills. We have a desire to not just keep this opportunity to ourselves, but get our whole district involved. Our campaign is called LS for LLS and we are believing that if every student in Lee’s Summit donates at least $1 to this cause, our city will have greatly impacted cancer research all across the nation.

Our fundraising goal is set to $10,000 but we hope to exceed that number. Each dollar we raise will not only help fund blood cancers but many other cancers like breast cancer. If we are to raise the most money, we will receive a $1,000 to our schools student senate program but also a shared scholarship of $2,500. We appreciate you all for coming alongside us in any way possible and thank you for helping financially support this cause and us.

We are honored to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are proud to be raising critical dollars in honor of Camryn who is currently in treatment from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
