Hi! Today is the first official day of my campaign, and I just wanted to take a quick second to explain why I have chosen to participate in Students of the Year. This cause is extremely important to my family, as my father’s brother, Christian, passed away from cancer at a young age. Though I never knew him personally, I know the immense toll his passing took on my family, and it devastates me that hundreds of thousands of families each year have to suffer the loss of a loved one to cancer as mine did. That's why I am running this campaign to support LLS: in hopes that one day we will live in a cancer-free world. And that's why I am asking for your help to support cancer patients like Christian. All donations will go to LLS to fund cancer research and help patients get the life saving treatment and care they need. Exposure is also important in making an impact. Hello everybody! I am so excited that my fundraising campaign begins in less than two hours! I have spent a long time planning and preparing for these next seven weeks, and I look forward to working hard for this amazing cause. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the largest non-profit organization that funds the research and treatment for blood cancer, and I know that every donation helps get them one step closer to achieving their mission of curing blood cancer. I will keep you all updated as I embark on this challenging but extremely rewarding journey to help make a difference in the lives of cancer patients around the world. I am honored to participate as a team member for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to support my candidate and am raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
