Mia Verma | Cancel Cancer

Mia's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 13, 2023

Hi, my name is Mia Verma and I am a candidate of Team Cancel Cancer! I am 18 years old, as a current Senior at Oakland Mills High School. I work as an intern at Shady Grove Fertility Clinic and as an attendant at KidSpace throughout Columbia Association. I enjoy playing the flute, hanging out with friends, playing lacrosse, and listening to music.

I decided to start Team Cancel Cancer, as a part of the Luekemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, in order to maximize the amount of awareness and funds going towards blood cancer patients and research.

I have a personal connection to cancer through both of my grandparents. My grandmother is a survivor of Breast Cancer and my grandfather is a survivor of Prostate Cancer. They have been a big part of my motivation to participate in this campaign.

But overall, I have so much fun participating in this campaign, knowing that I am helping so many families that are affected by cancer. I hope that you help us spread the word and support the cause:)!

Student Visionaries of the Year:

- Look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
- They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
- They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and spread the word to friends and family who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
