Morgan's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 08, 2023

Welcome to my Fundraising Page! I am honored to be participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2023 Students Visionaries of the Year (SVOY) campaign.

This year I am leading the legacy team Warriors for a Cure from Boonsboro High School and I am excited to continue to support the cause. Team Warriors for a Cure is dedicated to raising funds and support to eradicate Blood Cancer. The campaign is a seven-week initiative, starting January 14th, and continuing through March 4th, in which high school students from around the country are nominated to participate in a fundraising competition to benefit LLS’s mission: to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

After spending a year in isolation in 2020 due to Covid, I had a time to reflect on the good things in life that I had taken for granted. While I wasn’t seeing my friends, missing out on sports, on socialization and feared that if I got sick, I would lose it all, I got a tiny taste of how cancer patients have to live. I realized that cancer patients don’t have the same luxury of staying home and only stress being about school work and complaining about not getting to be with friends when they are waking up each day knowing it could be their last, fighting with all they have and still pushing forward. I joined the campaign last year to be part of the cause but it has become so much more than that for me. My nana had skin cancer, my coach had breast cancer and teacher had leukemia, all survivors but the ugly truth that cancer is everywhere is terrifying. Today I support LLS because it has given me not only hope, but strength that we can do something to combat cancer and to make that ugly truth a fallacy. Please help me raise money and awareness to put an end to the devastating effects blood cancer has on so many. Each dollar is a vote and the team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Students of the Year.

As a team, our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. Please join us in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, our efforts will help fund therapies, treatments, save lives and so much more. LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services. I am honored to be a part of this great opportunity to help the research and development race for cures for childhood cancers.

We are proud to join the fight to stand up against Leukemia and Lymphoma along the sides of many high school students like myself to help spread awareness for this life taking disease and aleve some of the pain this disease has caused children and their families. In America in 2022 alone it is predicted that around 1.9 million people in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer with most of these diagnoses belonging to one of the most vulnerable group of people which are children, this is the reason why I am passionate in taking part in this campaign because no child should ever have to worry about whether or not they will make it to their next birthday but get back to being kids. Join me and my team to give these children back their childhood!

Welcome!

Welcome to my Fundraising page! I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student Visionaries of the Year. Will you help me earn that title? As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers. Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day. We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers! All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

Too many friends and family taken too soon because of cancer. God bless the families that struggle to support their loved ones, and bless the survivors, too.
