Hello:) My name is Maanha Ahmed and I am a proud member of team cancel cancer. I am 17 years old and a senior living in Howard County Maryland.
When I heard about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the extraordinary things they were doing to help cancer patients, I could not give up this opportunity to help those in need.
I have a personal connection to cancer as my dad has been diagnosed with renal cancer. He has had his kidney taken out to prevent any spreading. It was hard to see my dad lose energy over the years, have to restrict his diet, and take many medications to live. Growing up, I also had a younger sister who was heavily impacted by numerous other medical conditions. It was hard for me to see my sister so sick, but thankfully over the years I have seen her progress and the experience has made me more sensitive to the different medical problems patients face. I am so grateful I have been given this opportunity to be able to raise funds for cancer research and treatment because I know how much it will mean to families all over the world.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
