Hello, my name is Katelyn Johnston! 

This year I am proud to announce that I am a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign. LLS is built on the vision of a better world -- one without blood cancers. My team, Fly4ACure, is located in southern Maryland and our goal is to help fund research to cure blood cancer. 

Some little things to know about me is that I attend Great Mills High School, I am in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathmatics (STEM) program, I am a competitive swimmer, and I love to read in my free time!

My personal mission in LLS is to help find a cure to give cancer patients and their parents a better quality of life, and to help prevent more people from getting blood cancer. I know many people who have or is suffering through cancer and understand the impact it can have on not only the patient, but everyone around them. It is very important to me to be able to find an end to this suffering and it can only be done with more research.

LLS helps support the fight against blood cancer by: 

• Funding cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving lives of patients
• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personlized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more. 
• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Me, Emilie, and my team are all working hard to fund more reasearch for blood cancer this year and we won't be able to do it by ourselves. Please consider donating to help fight blood cancer with us!
